american red cross logoThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected patients across the world. From self-isolation to losing family and friends to the virus, there is a chance for individuals to play their part in helping those suffering with COVID-19 and other debilitating ailments.

In an effort to help the community, the parent company of HCPLive® will host the virtual MJH Life Sciences Sleeves Up Blood Drive from March 31-April 30. Each pint of blood donated can save up to 3 lives.

Individuals are encouraged to schedule blood, platelet, or AB Elite plasma donation appointments, and keep any appointments that were already scheduled to ensure a stable supply throughout the pandemic.

“You can still go out and give blood,” the US Surgeon General said. “We’re worried about potential blood shortages in the future. Social distancing does not have to mean social disengagement.”

Red Cross asked for help of donors and blood drive hosts to maintain the sufficient blood supply for the weeks to come.

If you or a company has interest in hosting a virtual drive, visit https://sleevesup.redcrossblood.org/. Individuals who would like to donate can download the American Red Cross Blood Donor app.

Spread the word on social media about how individuals can help the American Red Cross and patients who rely on blood donations to live. Individuals can text the word REDCROSS to #90999 to make a $10 donation or visit redcross.org or 1-800-REDCROSS to donate.
