Researchers are constantly looking for new ways to help diagnose patients with a variety of conditions. A recent study in Boston looked at whether optical probes could help patients in the future.

Farouc A. Jaffer, MD, PhD, from Massachusetts General Hospital discussed the latest attempt to find the "holy grail" of diagnostic tools during the American Heart Association's annual scientific sessions in Orlando. 

If optical probes are the future of diagnosing cardiac issues there are still many questions that remain to be answered. Researchers are looking at not only the equipment that can be used but also chemical compounds which could provide the best results for patients.
