Douglas Mann, MD: Challenging The Prevailing Dogma
AUGUST 28, 2016
Douglas Mann, MD expressed his opinion regarding the results of the DANISH trial that were presented today at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2016 (ESC). "Technically the trial is neutral or people want to say negative, but from a clinical stand point, the device does work - just not in everybody," Mann remarked. According to Mann, in patients older than 70 years, physicians might be more conservative about recommending ICDs; there was also a 5% rate of complications in placing ICDs, which is relatively high in this age group.
