Obesity remains a growing problem and while gastric bypass surgery has become a viable option for many patients, there is still work being done to improve the procedure.

Allison Schulman, MD, from Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts discusses potential improvements during the annual Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2016 meeting in San Diego, California. Schulman says her team's research focused on two variations of the procedure – which they investigated to see if they were more effective than the current methods.
