Measuring Patient Experience With Computer Assisted Propofol Sedation
MAY 21, 2015
According to research done on computer assisted propofol sedation patients see a faster recovery time by approximately 6 minutes on average. This can help not only the patients to leave the recovery area faster, but can also put less of a burden on the staff and location of their endoscopic procedure.
Andrew Ross, MD, from Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle discussed the advantages of this option during Digestive Disease Week in Washington, DC. Ross said patients who were part of the study reported a better ability to recall events following their procedures than others. This, he said, allowed them to be more comfortable with the overall events when leaving the facility.
