For more than a decade medical researchers have been learning more about their fields from studying the injuries sustained by soldiers on the battlefield. A recent study looked at vision loss in this patient population, particularly in regards to traumatic brain injury.

Randy Kardon, MD, PhD, from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine discussed advancements in this field during the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Opthalmology in Seattle. In addition to his work at the school Kardon also works for the US Veteran's Administration and said the two posts have helped to move his research forward to help patients suffering with vision loss.
