When wounded service members come home from war they have many areas of care that need to be addressed. Studies have shown that sexual health is an important part of the overall treatment picture.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Psyciatric Association in Atlanta, Elspeth Cameron Ritchie, MD, MPH, a retired colonel from the United States Army said for psychiatrists treating this patient population it can be just as important to discuss sexual health with them as it is to talk about physical symptoms as well. As more veterans are affected by these issues Col. Ritchie said treatment for these patients has also improved greatly with more work to be done.
