Francisco Sylvester, MD, UNC School of medicine emphasized the importance of applying study findings to early interventions in treatment.
Sylvester also explained at the 2015 Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (AIBD) meeting in Orlando, FL. that they're learning along the way that puberty is also key. Ensuring a normal puberal progression is good for general health and patient self esteem.
"This is a very rewarding experience for someone like me who likes to have a foot in science as well as in clinical medicine," remarked Sylvester.
