Social Media Plays Key Part in Medicine Today

When patients leave the waiting room of their provider, their concerns can go with them. With the help of social media channels like Facebook and Twitter, those concerns can be addressed while information is shared in a new and effective manner.

Kevin R. Campbell, MD, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill College of Medicine, discussed the potential impact of these social media channels during the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA. Campbell noted that while there were more than 10,000 people at the conference there were more than 200 million impressions of the hashtag #AHA2016.
