Advancing Cardiac Care for Women
NOVEMBER 15, 2016
The treatment of cardiovascular disease for men may be ahead of where it is for women, but there is a concerted effort to bring the two into a more balanced measure.
Over the past decade Nieca Goldberg, MD, from the NYU Langone Medical Center, said a lot has been learned about the field and that knowledge is now being put into the field. Speaking at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA, Goldberg said progress can be made in "a lot of areas," including basic science which can be applied to therapies and treatment. She also said it was important to remember that women see a considerable amount of change in their bodies over the course of their lives, which can mean needing specialized care from their providers.
