Q&A With Tim Garvey From University Alabama Birmingham: Treatment of Obese and Overweight Patients Makes Big Strides in Past Decade

Treatment for patients who are obese or overweight have seen significant improvements in treatment options over the past decade, but there is still much ore work to be done.

Tim Garvey, MD, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham discussed how progress has been made in the field and what work remains to be done during the AAE's 24th Annual Scientific and Clinical Congress in Nashville. Garvey said the same adjustments can help patients with prediabetes as well as full fledged diabetes. He noted the success of lifestyle intervention and therapy and specific adjustments that can be made which can help improve a patient's overall health.
