Mick Memories

The family of Mickey Mantle recently held a New York City auction to sell some of the memorabilia of the New York Yankees' Hall-of-Famer. The show was expected to pull in more than $5 million, with the top bid at $275,000 for his 1957 American League MVP trophy. A few other ordinary items sold brought in some loot, including $1600 for his Commerce, Okla, bankbook, $6500 for his American Express Gold Card, $13,000 for eight of his canceled checks, and $10,000 for his old Texas driver's license. The most Mantle ever earned in a single season was $100,000, which he made from 1963 to 1968.
