Taking a Team Approach to Diabetes Care

With diabetes affecting so many parts of a patient's life sometimes it is not enough for one provider to help them manage the condition.

Whether it is the primary provider, the social worker, or the mental health provider, Kimberly A. Driscoll, PhD, from the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes at the University of Colorado said they have seen positive results from the team approach. Having what Driscoll called "frank conversations" can help patients identify issues with their care and help make the whole process smoother over their years of treatment.
