As the treatment for Crohn's disease moves away from steroids and surgery and towards less severe and more effective medications patients with the condition can look forward to a higher quality of life than they had in the past.
Neilanjan Nandi, MD, from the Drexel University College of Medicine discussed some of the advancements in treatment of the condition and what it can mean to overall patient care during a recent interview with MD Magazine. Nandi said that because surgery and steroids have their own independent risks it is beneficial to patients and doctors to have these alternative treatment methods to turn to.
