Laura Kahn From Princeton University: Treating Infectious Disease Takes More Than Medicine
MARCH 07, 2016
As viruses like Ebola, chikungunya, and now zika continue to make headlines treating these conditions may take more than just the medical condition to ensure they do not become larger problems on the global scene.
A co-founder of the One Health Initiative, Laura H. Kahn, MD, MPH, MPP, from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, said medical science and research can only go so far in addressing these issues. Kahn said government entities also need to be involved in areas like public health and safety. This can include addressing issues which could promote mosquito related conditions like standing water and used tires in areas where people could be exposed to the insects.
