John Torous from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center: Using Smartphones in Mental Health Care

As smartphones become more prevalent throughout society, work is being done to see how they can help with patient health in ways that previously were not possible.

John Torous, MD, from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center discussed what these developments could mean for patient care during the annual American Psychiatric Association meeting in Boston. Torous said there are ethical concerns that doctors will need to address when using these advancements but that they can also provide information that patients themselves may not be able to give to their providers.
