CURE Highlights the Importance of Colorectal Cancer Screenings
MARCH 27, 2017

National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month is recognized every March and reminds physicians and patients that getting a colonoscopy is the most effective way to prevent colorectal cancer.
CURE Media Group, a sister site of MD Magazine, highlighted the importance of screening—even for younger patients. Colorectal cancer has long been thought of as an older person’s disease, however, people being diagnosed are getting younger and younger. John L. Marshall, MD, a medical oncologist at Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia said that nearly half of his patients with colorectal cancer are under the age of 50.
“No Ifs, Ands, or Butts,” the physicians said. “Get screened.”
