Hadine Joffe, MD, MSc, explained at The North American Menopause Society 27th Annual Meeting (NAMS), that their research validates there's a biological basis for these symptoms and that these are the brains' responses to hormone changes and the symptom manifestations of those hormone changes. Joffe shared that the team's next steps are to conduct analyses that are breaking out the risks of using estrogen. Also, she explained, "Yes there are risks with estrogen in whatever age group, but when you're weighing those risks against the benefits of symptom control and management, you'll err on the side of treatment."
