Addressing Proper Education of Hormone Therapy: JoAnn Pinkerton, University of Virginia
OCTOBER 10, 2016
While hormone therapy may not be the best option for all women in menopause, there is an effort underway to help educate patients and providers alike as to how best to approach this topic to provide the best results possible.
The North American Menopause Society has submitted a citizen's petition to the US Food and Drug Administration hoping to convince them to change the labeling on boxes of vignal estrogen which has scared patients away from treatments prescribed by their providers. JoAnn V. Pinkerton, MD, Executive Director of the society said that it is important for patients to be monitored for certain risks, but not at the expense of preventing them from getting the best care possible.
