Igor Koralnik: Finding the Right Treatment for PML

While neurologists may be able to successfully diagnose progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy it may take a more specialized health care professional to effectively treat the condition.

Speaking at the annual ECTRIMS conference in London, Igor Koralnik, MD, from Rush University Medical Center said that specialized treatment can including crossing over to infectious disease as well as neurology. That can sometimes mean seeing a neuro HIV Specialist, or a neuro infectious disease specialist such as himself. Unlike in the past Korlanik said general neurologists are at least better prepared to diagnose the condition which can help to start the treatment process that much faster.
