While Anti-VEGF medications can be an effective treatment for patients with diabetic macular edema many will not respond to it making steroids the preferred method for care.

Young Hee Yoon, MD, from the Asan Medical Center in Seoul said her research shows the benefits of an OCT Angiography in determining whether a patient's eye will respond better to the more expensive Anti-VEGF or the more commonly available sterioid treatment. Yoon presented the results of her study during the annual meeting of the American Society of Retina Specialists in San Francisco.
