Raghu Krishnamoorthy, PhD, from the North Texas Eye Research Center, UNT Health Science Center currently focuses research on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration in rodent model glaucoma.
"We hope there are strategies for regeneration of the optic nerve and making synaptic connections to the higher order brain structure, because those are the key issues. They'll be needed, because as we have greater incidences of glaucoma, we'll definitely need these approaches to restore vision in patients who lost eyesight," Krishnamoorthy concluded.
