Q&A with Peter Higgins: How to Implement a Nutrition Program for IBD Patients
DECEMBER 11, 2015
At the 2015 Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (AIBD) meeting in Orlando, Florida, Peter Higgins, MD, PhD, the University of Michigan Health System shared his insight about the importance and value of careful nutritional guidance for IBD patients.
According to Higgins, patients are always looking for and asking about nutrition solutions to IBD since they either heavily restrict their diets or rely on stringent diets in place of effective medications, so it's imperative that healthcare professionals engage with their IBD patients and actively start dialogue, so patients don't accidentally do things that result in self-harm.
