Helping Parents and Patients Through Pediatric Glaucoma Treatment and Beyond
OCTOBER 18, 2016
The treatment of pediatric glaucoma can be successful if caught early, and sometimes that can mean a surgical procedure on the day of the first visit to a specialist.
The discussion can be difficult at times as well as time sensitive, but Joseph Panarelli, MD, from the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai said those specialists who treat this condition often do it because they love helping these vulnerable children have normal lives as they get older. Panarelli, speaking at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO 2016) in Chicago, Illinois, said surgery for the condition has come a long way in recent years but there is still much more work to be done going forward.
